Dominique Brownlee

Sustainability Director

About Dominique

Dominique is the Sustainability Director for Peninsula and, reporting to the COO, is responsible for leading the development, implementation and delivery of Peninsula’s corporate sustainability ambition and ESG roadmap.

Beginning her career for a local authority landlord in the UK, Dominique managed a range of asset classes, including commercial, retail, leisure, and education. This was a general practice role involving management of Landlord & Tenant issues, rent reviews, leasing, property management, acquisitions, and disposals, as well as working on regeneration projects and land-use strategy to enhance the value of dilapidated assets and sites across the city.

Dominique arrived in the UAE in 2008, moving to consultancy roles at both Asteco and JLL. During this time, she was seconded to private sector landlords to set-up and manage operations for prime commercial and residential portfolios in Dubai, for both existing and new-build properties. This predominantly involved leasing, property and facilities management strategies, including outsourcing and performance management to implement value-add initiatives and conduct cash flow forecasting to align with clients’ exit strategies or overall strategic business objectives. She also gained experience conducting valuation, research consultancy, and development appraisals across the UAE for a range of purposes.

Dominique then moved back to client-side roles, beginning with Abu Dhabi Investment Authority where she managed a transformation project of the UAE-based residential portfolio, involving Lean process improvement and policy, procedure implementation, and establishment of a centralized market intelligence database to support significant cost reduction and optimized service delivery.

At Abu Dhabi-based developer Miral, Dominique was responsible for the P&L and strategic asset management of a portfolio of mixed-use assets, including residential, retail, and hospitality. The role consisted of advising on and managing the take-over of retail, leisure, and hospitality assets from concept design to operations and devising and implementing leasing and property management strategies to optimize the value of the overall portfolio and contribute to community placemaking and sustainability strategies.

Dominique is a chartered commercial surveyor and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Newcastle University, England; Master’s degrees including an MSc in Real Estate Management from Northumbria University, England; and professional certification in Sustainability Leadership and Corporate Responsibility from London Business School and the Circular Economy from Exeter University.
